Westonite Pens Second Wedding Guide

The Daily Weston

WESTON, Conn. ‒ When Weston resident Stacey Tucker was planning her second wedding, she recorded her whirlwind experience in hopes of helping encore brides navigate uncharted terrain. The result was “Eat, Drink and Remarry.”

Tucker, who also goes by StaceyLu, wrote the book as her first installment in the StaceyLu’s Guides to Life book series.

What began as a budding memoir soon became a hybrid, part self-help, part second-wedding guide. The book serves as a resource for the newly divorced and those engaged for a second time.

Tucker met her first husband in the eighth grade. The two married in 1996, and divorced five years later. In “Eat, Drink and Remarry,” Tucker revisits her post-divorce years with candid reflection. She doesn’t sugar-coat her emotional turmoil, but doesn’t dwell on the bitterness that so often marks divorce. Instead, she champions perseverance and the importance of emerging triumphant. The book also includes accounts from women with similar stories of love lost and new beginnings.

Tucker takes into consideration that one’s wedding preferences may have changed since a first marriage and delivers tips for those seeking something fresh. From choosing the locale for nuptials to writing vows, she gives readers both conventional ideas and creative alternatives.

Tucker tells readers to consider a less traditional route for the second nuptials, such as having the wedding take place on a boardwalk or at a museum, or having a civil ceremony versus one that is more traditional in nature.

“Eat, Drink and Remarry” also advocates the need to establish a support system early on, be it a wedding planner, family, friends or your fiancé. “When planning my second wedding, I felt isolated and overwhelmed, having taken on every aspect of the job. In my research, I learned others felt the same, so I wanted my book to be the written equivalent of a good friend,” Tucker said.
